As much as I want to give him a pass on such a trivial issue, I just can’t. It’s not that I think baseball is relevant when it comes to judging presidents. No, this is about authenticity and truth.
This isn’t a guy who concedes he has no time to follow baseball between sipping lattes, driving in limousines, and reading the New York Times. No, he purports to be a real man of the people, a man of the men, watching ESPN and enjoying a good game. More specifically, he claims to be a big White Sox fan.
So when refers to Comiskey Park, which hasn’t even existed in years, as “Cominskey Park” again it just smells phony. Although to be fair, he’s improved since last July when he called the ballpark as “Cominskey Field”.
It’s like me claiming to be a football fan and then asking when the Detroit Braves are playing the New York Diamondbacks again. It reveals how phony your “common man” claim-to-fame is.
