Actually, the worst case of left-wing indoctrination in a public school system I’ve ever seen. Even the Obama worship videos weren’t as bad. At least those only involved the glorification of a single individual rather than an entire ideology.
Here’s the lowdown: At Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, teacher Barbara Geerdes handed out a paper purporting to explain the philosophical differences between liberals and conservatives. But rather than quote Woodrow Wilson or William F. Buckley, she utilized her own commentary.
The paper, entitled “Philosophical Differences Between Liberals and Conservatives” included multiple graphics used for commentary as well, such as an angel next to the liberal explanation and a devil next to the conservative one.
You can see a scanned copy here, but I’ve also created a text transcript of the paper’s sections below:
Liberal
Liberals generally approach human nature with a great deal of optimism. They think people are basically good, and though individuals are born ignorant they are not evil. Most liberals do not believe in original sin and as a consequence they feel people can be improved by education and knowledge. If you give people opportunities to better themselves they will usually take advantage of them and improve. Liberals also favor rapid movement towards constitutional or democratic forms of government because of their great confidence in the ability of the enlightened citizen to make wise and prudent choices at the ballot box.
*Achoo!* Sorry, I’m allergic to bullshit.
Conservative
Conservatives, on the other hand, have a more pessimist opinion of human nature. Because they believe people have been tainted by original sin, or are otherwise flawed, they expect less of people. They are more reluctant to provide welfare programs such as aid to dependent children or unemployment compensation, because they do not think it will be used properly, and in fact think it will cause additional problems as the weaker tendencies of human nature will be reinforced. Liberals welcome reforms because they feel human history is one of continual progress a (sic) people inform and improve themselves. Conservatives are distrustful of the average citizen’s ability to direct a government, even only indirectly as in a representative democracy such as the United States.
Oh, wow, now my allergies are really acting up.
Conservatives are distrustful of the average citizen? Well, that explains why they push for less government control of the average citizen and oppose judicial activism, whereas liberals push for more centralized control and activist judges who overrule the will of the people.
But I’m not going to spend this post debunking the obvious bullshit in this paper. We all know it’s wrong and I don’t need to explain why. The teacher is handing out propaganda and that’s quite obvious. She should be terminated.
More: Via the Hot Air comment section, this seems to be the teacher. She admits to welling up over the Oslo Peace Accords and seems to be gushing over a picture of young Hillary and Bill Clinton.

you guys need to leave mrs. geerdes alone. i am in her AP us gov’t class, and she has done so much more to teach us about gov’t than you guys who ” are such great teachers of the subject”. she gives us a real view of the gov’t politics, in a blunt way that makes it easier to understand. you critics are getting on it merely because you dont agree with the way she is teaching. stay on your side of teaching gov’t and make your ap us gov’t kids ignorant of the true situation of our politics today. you don’t agree with it, talk to her instead of making yourselves look like idiotic dicks by calling her out online.

We fund your education, so no, I don’t think I’ll keep out of it. Nor do I feel it necessary to speak with her, as I wasn’t even the individual who exposed the propaganda. I just posted about the revelation.
That pamphlet isn’t education in a blunt way. It’s propaganda. It says that liberals are good and conservatives bad. It’s an attempt to persuade students to be one of the good, angelic liberals.
If you think that propaganda is a “real view of the gov’t politics”, you’re in for a rude awakening.
