Tom Coburn’s Clueless Defense of Pelosi

by Stephan Tawney on April 6, 2010

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) evidently decided to utilize the skills he picked up at the John McCain School of Being a Chump today. Here he is defending Nancy Pelosi, the ire of…most of the nation.

While discussing his policy disagreements with Pelosi, Coburn said “she’s a nice lady,” which brought hisses and hoots from the crowd.

Said Coburn: “Come on now. She is nice — how many of you all have met her? She’s a nice person. Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re not a good person… So don’t catch yourself being biased by Fox News that somebody is no good. The people in Washington are good. They just don’t know what they don’t know.”

Sure she just rammed an unconstitutional piece of government-run health care down your throat and seeks to destroy limits on the government’s power, but she brought Coburn cookies that one time. Oh, and she totally says “hi” every morning in the hallway. Leave Nancy Alone!

And on top of that, what the hell is with attacking Fox News in order to protect Nancy Pelosi? Dude, she’s going to do everything possible to defeat you and your agenda. She just openly contemplated passing legislation without Congress actually voting on it. So the strategy is to attack Fox News and defend her?

Just goes to show that Washington still defends its own, no matter how corrupt and dangerous. Coburn is simply defending the elite country club’s president from criticism initiated by those rubes outside the gate.
