Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill), the second-highest ranking Democrat in the Senate, has been subpoenaed to testify at the trial of disgraced former-Governor Rod Blagojevich (D), who was removed from office after being arrested on federal charges related to corruption.
The announcement, made by Durbin himself, comes a day after Blagojevich’s defense counsel filed papers requesting the court issue a subpoena to President Barack Obama. The papers allege that Obama has inside knowledge of the negotiations to fill his vacant Senate seat and even that the president has lied about his personal involvement in the case.
