Passenger Claimed To Have Fake Passport, Explosives

U.S. officials tell NBC News that the passenger who was detained by a federal air marshal after disrupting Delta Flight 273 is an American citizen who claimed to be traveling on a fake passport and with explosives in his luggage.

The passenger was immediately taken into custody by the air marshal and the aircraft was diverted to Bangor, Maine. The flight was supposed to travel from Paris to Atlanta.

The individual is now being interviewed by federal authorities, according to a statement from the TSA.

Flight 273 was carrying 235 passengers and eight crew members.
