Over, you guessed it, the new legal status check law in Arizona. Because no area of your life can be left untouched by politics.
The Phoenix Suns will wear “Los Suns” on their jerseys Wednesday for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals, owner Robert Sarver said, “to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the state of Arizona and our nation.”…
He said that the law calls into question “our basic principles of equal rights and protection under the law” and will cause Arizona’s economy to suffer setbacks at a time when the state is already in economic distress.
The law requires police to have already made contact with an individual for a separate reason before checking the person’s immigration status. In other words, you can’t be checked just for looking like an illegal alien. You have to be suspected of having committed or being about to another crime before the officer can check your legal status.
As for economic distress, Arizona has a 9.4% unemployment rate. Imagine the sheer economic destruction that would result from, er, Americans being able to occupy the jobs currently held by illegal aliens. The unemployment rate would fall and consumer spending would increase. The downfall of the republic, I tell ya!
So the outrage is phony and unwarranted. Especially considering the law enjoys overwhelming popularity nationally, including amongst the minority population of Arizona. So are the Suns actually standing up for American Hispanics or the open-borders/amnesty shill cause? My money is on the latter.

Sarver is a total idiot. He obviously is so stupid he did not read the law and has just lost millions of dollars because people will react in a negative way to his racist attitude.Politics have no place in sports. While most Arizonans do not see this as an improper law and are not racist he has shown he has no class. HE SHOULD SHUT UP AND LEAVE OUR STATE IF HE DOES NOT LIKE IT HERE!!!!!!!! What a loser.

This is the most unreal idea that a local sports team could present. I suppose he will next be supporting the boycott of the Baseball All Star game. I for one will not be watcching anymore Suns games and would hope that others would do the same.
