We’re currently back around a plunge of just 700 points but just moments ago it was down about 919 points. We’re swinging back and forth around the 10,000 mark.
Update: It’s hovering around -600 points now.
Update X2: The Wall Street Journal says the Dow plunged 950 points before “improving” to be down just 516 points. It’s a bad day when “we’re down just 500 points” is good news.
Update X3: Fox News says the Dow plummeted almost 999 points at one point. It’s a record.
Update X4: We’re down about 300 points at 4:48 PM. Nowhere near as bad as it could have been but it would be horrid on just about any other day. Things become relative really, really quickly.
Update X5: And we’re closed for the day. We closed down at 354 points. My new favorite sound is the stock exchange bell ringing. Good Lord.
