Breaking: Suicide Bomber Hits Russian Military Base

An unknown number of individuals are dead following the detonation of a car bomb near a Russian military base in the southern Dagestan region, Interfax reports. Reports indicate the attack was a suicide bombing.

(Reuters) – A suicide attacker detonated a car bomb near a military base in Russia’s southern Dagestan region on Sunday, killing an unknown number of people, Interfax news agency reported, quoting an unnamed military official.

“According to preliminary information there were fatalities, their number is being established,” the official was quoted as saying.

The car exploded around 200 meters (yards) from a base housing a brigade of marines in the town of Kaspiysk in the mainly Muslim region of Dagestan, the official said.
