Marco Rubio, the conservative Republican candidate for United States Senate in Florida, has taken an eight-point lead over his closest rival, Flip-Flop Charlie Crist. Kendrick Meek, the likely Democratic nominee, trails far behind both competitors.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in Florida finds Republican Marco Rubio with 39% support, while Crist earns 31% of the vote and Democrat Kendrick Meek trails at 18%. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided.
Will the undecideds break for Flip-Flop Charlie? Possibly, though less likely if they discover his support for cap-and-tax, the failed $825 billion stimulus package, and his flip-flop on the issue of off-shore drilling. Never mind his switching to Independent after repeatedly promising to remain a Republican and endorse the eventual GOP nominee.
Rubio holds a two-to-one lead amongst male voters while Crist holds just a slight edge amongst female voters. Hopefully the female voters will peel off as they discover just how untrustworthy Flip-Flop Charlie is.
