Kansas City Naturalized Citizen Admits: I Provided Support For Al Qaeda

Khalid Ouazzani, a native of Morocco who became a naturalized American citizen at some point, was an auto parts and car dealer in Kansas City, Missouri. He’s also a supporter of al Qaeda and faces 30 imprisonment for sending money to the terrorist organization. Ouazzani pleaded guilty to federal charges today.

A Kansas City used car and auto parts dealer admitted in Kansas City federal court this morning that he provided “material support” to the al-Qaida terrorist organization.

Khalid Ouazzani, a Moroccan-born naturalized U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges, admitting that he sent $23,500 to al-Qaida through a bank in the United Arab Emirates between August 2007 and summer 2008.

He also admitted to joining a co-conspirator in taking an oath of allegiance to al Qaeda with the intention of actually joining the terror group.

He also acknowledged that he and co-conspirators not identified in the charges discussed fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq or Somalia as another way to support Al Qaeda.

The conspirators also “used various techniques to disguise their communications about their plans and assistance to support” al-Qaida, according to court records.

In pleading guilty to the terrorism charge, Ouazzani acknowledged that he knew at the time he sent the money that the U.S. government had designated Al Qaeda a terrorist organization and that it was illegal to provide it with any support.

But wait, there’s more!

He also pleaded guilty to money laundering and bank fraud in a previously indicted scheme to steal more than $174,000 from a bank using false and fraudulent financial information.

Not only was he attempting to steal money using fraudulent information, but shipped his own money to al Qaeda — the group to which he pledged allegiance and aspired to join in battle. Any reason this naturalized citizen can’t have his citizenship revoked?
