Audio: Apple Censors App That Criticizes Islam

by Stephan Tawney on May 20, 2010

I’m not surprised. Incidentally, the major problem here is the double-standard. You can’t market an application that criticizes Islam because that’s inappropriate for the store, but marketing an application that slams Christianity? Totally appropriate.

Apple prides itself on being innovative and progressive. In reality, the company is cowardly and regressive. In no universe is the banning of speech (or applications in this case) due to threats from a bunch of thugs progressive.

Cow-towing to religious extremists who threaten violence if dissent is expressed? There’s an app for that.
