Service Chiefs Oppose DADT Repeal Compromise

by Stephan Tawney on May 26, 2010

Turns out not everyone supports repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in the near future. According to testimonials acquired by Think Progress, service chiefs have told Congress they oppose the compromise repeal being proposed.

Among the opponents:

  • Admiral Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations
  • General James T. Conway, Commandant of the Marine Corps
  • General Norton A. Schwartz, Chief of Staff of the Air Force
  • General George W. Casey, Jr., Chief of Staff of the United States Army

See, I assume that when these gentlemen have a problem with repealing the law, there might just be a reason the law shouldn’t be repealed. I’m guessing they understand the potential impact better than, say, Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi.
