Report: Suspected Terrorist Arrested On Aeromexico Flight

by Stephan Tawney on May 31, 2010

Here’s disturbing news. According to NBC News, a suspected terrorist — apparently tied to Al Qaeda — was arrested on Sunday aboard an Aeromexico flight in Montreal. From what I can tell, the flight originated in France.

Update: Ah, here we go. The flight was from France to Mexico and was diverted to Montreal when access to American airspace was denied for security reasons. After Abdirahman Ali Gaal, connected to al-Shabaab — an Al Qaeda ally in Somalia — was removed and arrested, the flight was permitted to continue.

Here’s where it gets very bad. According to a Mexican senator aboard the plane, the terror suspect’s final scheduled stop was Tijuana — which borders San Diego, California. Was he then planning on sneaking across the porous border? After all, he wasn’t even allowed in American airspace much less past border control. There’s no way he was getting in legally and he must have known as much.

Something tells me opposition to Arizona’s new immigration law is about to weaken further.
