Really? This is the one area in which Obama wants to scale down the scope of governmental control? An international ban on commercial whale hunting? Dude, I think he’s given up on a second term.
Environmentalists, already peeved with the administration’s handling of the Gulf oil spill, are accusing President Obama of breaking his campaign pledge to end the slaughter of whales.
The Obama administration is leading an effort within the International Whaling Commission to lift a 24-year international ban on commercial whaling for Japan, Norway and Iceland, the remaining three countries in the 88-member commission that still hunt whales.
The administration argues that the new deal will save thousands of whales over the next decade by stopping the three countries from illegally exploiting loopholes in the moratorium.
Is this going to save thousands of whales like ObamaCare is going to save us money? In other words, it won’t? Because so far, this is sounding like much the same argument.
Who was the far-left loon who first championed this international ban on whaling?
Several environmental groups have joined forces to pressure Obama to withdraw his support for the deal before the whaling commission votes June 20 in Morocco on whether to lift the ban that was championed by President Reagan.
Yes, Ronald Reagan — the most beloved president in modern conservatism — championed the cause of banning commercial whaling.
Since President Ronald Reagan first helped usher in the international ban on commercial whaling, every American President has reasserted our nation’s strong leadership in the fight to save the whales.
Even the Bush Administration — the seeming arch nemesis of the environmental left — maintained the commercial whaling ban. So, um, awkward.

Some fool actually suggested giving people jobs to help with the Gulf spill: “How about a public work relief program for the unemployed, similar to Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) established during the Depression”
But, but, that would be a Jobs program. We can’t have a program that actually gives jobs to some of the people that Geithner’s Bankster cronies threw out of work. We need all those billions and billions of dollars to fatten banksters. They need jobs, too. And yachts. Lots of yachts. That’s it, Send all the banksters down to the Gulf with their yachts to suck up the oil with their sump pumps. Then shoot the banksters into the well hole for a Real top kill that kills two birds with one stone. A dead well and a dead Fed.
