Terrorist-Mourning CNN Producer Leaves The Network

by Stephan Tawney on July 7, 2010

We covered the original story on Monday.

Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah was a spiritual mentor for internationally-designated terror group Hezbollah. He was known to deny the Holocaust, justify suicide bombings against innocent civilians, and was even believed responsible for the murder of 241 United States Marines in Beirut back in 1983. Fadlallah died on Sunday.

On Monday, CNN senior producer Octavia Nasr announced on Twitter that she was mourning the loss of Fadlallah — a man she inexplicably says she respected. Here’s the tweet:

Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.. One of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.

How one can respect any “giant” of Hezbollah is beyond me, much less the man believed responsible for murdering 241 American servicemen. Nasr had to go.

And today, she has.

I had a conversation with Octavia this morning and I want to share with you that we have decided that she will be leaving the company. As you know, her tweet over the weekend created a wide reaction. As she has stated in her blog on CNN.com, she fully accepts that she should not have made such a simplistic comment without any context whatsoever. However, at this point, we believe that her credibility in her position as senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs has been compromised going forward.

As a colleague and friend we’re going to miss seeing Octavia everyday. She has been an extremely dedicated and committed part of our team. We thank Octavia for all of her hard work and we certainly wish her all the best.
Parisa.

The “context” she provided was inadequate to explain away her announced admiration for a terror leader. He stood up for Muslim woman? Charming. I’m surprised he found the time between denying the Holocaust, planning terror attacks, and justifying the murder of innocent people. Busy man.

Anyway, I’m glad to see that the terror-sympathizing Nasr has left her network of 20 years. The only question now is how long she’ll have to wait before being hired by some left-wing outlet.
