Poll: Pennsylvanians Overwhelmingly Favor Arizona’s Immigration Law

There’s more bad news for Democrats in today’s Quinnipiac poll on the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race and immigration policies.

Gubernatorial Race

In the gubernatorial race, Republican candidate Tom Corbett leads Democratic candidate Dan Onorato by a margin of 44-37. Independent voters favor Corbett 44-29 while Republicans favor their nominee 86-4. Just over two thirds of Democrats support their candidate (69-13).

A majority of voters (50-42) disapprove of the job Governor Ed Rendell (D) is doing, and 55% say they don’t want the next governor to continue his policies.

Immigration

You don’t want to be found supporting the Obama Administration’s attack on Arizona if you’re running for statewide office in Pennsylvania.

A plurality (47-34) of voters want Pennsylvania to adopt a similar law to SB1070. A majority (52-47) support the law, while a whopping 60% oppose the Obama Administration’s attempt to block the law’s implementation. Just 27% support the lawsuit. A plurality believe the law won’t lead to discrimination against Hispanics.

72% of voters want immigration policies to focus on enforcement rather than amnesty. Just 21% would rather focus on the integration of illegal aliens into society than actually enforcing immigration law.
