We told you that the executive order banning taxpayer funding for abortions was phony political cover and nothing more. The most pro-abortion president in history combined with the most pro-abortion Congress in history would never permit government-run health care to leave out abortion procedures.
And sure enough…
(CNSNews.com) – If you want proof that President Obama’s Executive Order on taxpayer-funded abortion was a sham, look no further than Pennsylvania, says House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio).
Boehner and other Republicans point to reports that the Health and Human Services Department is giving Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new high-risk insurance pool that will cover any abortion that is legal in the state.
In short, taxpayer funds will begin providing abortions in Pennsylvania, despite assurances from Barack Obama and his Congressional allies that such a thing would never happen.
President Obama pledged that under his health care plan “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.”
Minority Leader Boehner asked the White House in May if it was providing the states with guidance on how to implement the executive order that supposedly banned taxpayer-funded abortions. He never received a response.
And if you’re wondering, no — this won’t be the least instance of taxpayer funds being used for abortions.
McClusky noted that the new health care law also includes $12.5 billion for community health centers, and $6 billion for co-ops, both of which can fund abortions. And some people will use tax credits to help them pay for plans that cover abortion.
The White House and Congressional Democrats lied to the American people. They blatantly, unapologetically lied to us. And there’s nothing we can do about it until November.
