Congressman Charles Djou (R-HI), the first Republican in decades to represent Hawaii’s 1st Congressional district, announced today that his campaign raised nearly $1 million from a total of 4,137 donors in the second quarter. His statement says the average donation was less than $200.
Djou will enter the third quarter with $379,046 cash-on-hand.
The Republican incumbent faces an uphill battle to keep his seat in November. While he won the special election back in May, his victory was in large part due to two left-wing candidates splitting the Democratic vote. Djou will likely face a united Democratic front next time around.
