Morbid, I know, but important and sad.
During the month of June, there were 21 potential suicides involving active duty members of the Army. One has been confirmed as a suicide while the other 20 remain under investigation.
Among reserve component soldiers who were not on active duty, there were 11 potential suicides. Again, one has been confirmed while the others remain under investigation.
For the first half of 2010, suicides amongst active duty members are down to 80 from 88 in the first half of 2009. Reserve soldiers not on active duty, however, have seen an increase from 42 to 65 suicides for the same time period.
