After years of federal inaction that resulted in the flow of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens across our southern border, Arizona stepped in with SB1070 — a law that permits officers to check the legal status of individuals already suspected of other crimes.

Despite claims from the left that the law legalizes discrimination, skin color is specifically banned from being the justification for a legal status check. And again, only individuals already suspected of having committed another crime are targeted. Any form of ID — including a driver’s license — is considered acceptable proof of legality.

Despite the fact this law is rooted in common sense, the Obama Administration — an ally of the open-borders lobby — has attacked Arizona both on the airwaves and in the courtroom. The administration doesn’t like that Arizona is actually trying to lower its crime rate and financial burden by enforcing existing federal immigration law.
