Obama: I’ve Never Heard of Snooki, Even Though I Mentioned Her Months Ago

by Stephan Tawney on July 30, 2010

Granted, this isn’t quite the biggest political issue of the week. But Obama went on The View to appear as a down-to-earth, ordinary person who was just sitting down for a little chat with the girls. And yet he was either lying yesterday or back in May.

Here’s what happened: Obama was quizzed by Joy Behar on celebrities in the news, including Mel Gibson, Lindsey Lohan, and Snooki (of Jersey Shore). He did fine for the first two but then came to Snooki:

Referring to the ”Jersey Shore” television personality, Behar asked, ”Should Snooki run as mayor of Wasilla?”

“I’ve got to admit, I don’t know who Snooki is.”

Let’s go back to May 2, 2010. The event is the White House Correspondents Association Dinner, and the speech is Obama’s own.

On May 2, 2010, Obama joked about Snooki during his speech at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner. “The following individuals shall be excluded from the indoor tanning tax within this bill. Snooki, J-WOWW, the Situation, and House Minority Leader John Boehner…

Again, not the biggest political issue of the week. But any example of Mr. Regular Guy being disingenuous is delicious.

  1. JK Says:

Politicians should just stick with what they know. Trying to appear overly hip just makes them look silly in the end.
