Lincoln: I Totally Opposed Government-Run Health Care Even Thought I Voted For It

Hey, she’s trying. It’s not easy to overcome a thirty-eight point deficit in the polls. Especially when you’re a tax-and-spend liberal running in Arkansas in an anti-liberal midterm election. So you almost have to expect a little historical revisionism from her campaign.

Still, in the interest of accuracy, let’s review:

Lincoln was the deciding vote in favor of the government-run health care legislation, better known as “ObamaCare”, earlier this year. Without her vote the Senate legislation would have died on the floor. ObamaCare would never have become law.

Democrats, apparently including Lincoln, were hoping that the passage of time would lead to a higher approval of the legislation and even a bump in the polls for supporters. That hope never became reality as Americans remain firmly planted against most aspects of the legislation. A majority even support all-out repeal.

So what is an ObamaCare-supporting “moderate” Democrat in a red state supposed to do? Rewrite history with an ad suggesting that she stood in defiance of liberal Democrats and single-handedly stopped a government takeover of the nation’s health care system.

The tactic screams of desperation, of course, but Lincoln is quite desperate. Review that second link again. Lincoln trails her Republican counterpart, John Boozman, 65-27%. It’s not like she has much to lose by appearing desperate.
