Call To Action: Help Turn All Of Florida Red

by Stephan Tawney on August 24, 2010

Florida holds 27 electoral votes and has been a key component of many presidential election victories. There are no fewer than 25 Congressional districts, worth, you guessed it, 25 votes in the House of Representatives. Nine of those seats are currently held by Democrats. To put that into perspective, Republicans need to carry 39 more seats in November to take control of the House.

But that’s not all. There’s an open United States Senate seat this year, as well as races for governor and Attorney General. You may not expect it, but the latter two races also have a national impact. How? Florida has been one of the states challenging government-run health care in the court system. That could change under a Democratic governor and a fellow lefty Attorney General.

All of which is to say this: Florida is a very, very important battleground state in November. It provides us the ability to deliver a blow to the big government tax-and-spend agenda of Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. We can stand up for smaller government and fiscal responsibility and reject reckless spending and more bureaucratic power.

But none of this can be done without your help. And that means financial help, too. I’ve divided the following list of candidates into three categories: Priority A, Priority B, and Priority C. All of them could use your help, but those in the Priority A category really need your help. Priority B is slightly less urgent and Priority C is even less so.

Anything you can give is vital, whether it’s $5 or $500. A whole bunch of $5 donations go a long way, so don’t discount your ability to assist. Together we can defeat the Nancy Pelosi/Barack Obama agenda and show the country that Florida stands for individual freedom and economic prosperity.
