The Non-Political “Restoring Honor” Rally

The Politico reports on today’s “Restoring Honor” rally, hosted by Glenn Beck at the Lincoln Memorial. James Hohmann writes that the rally was surprisingly non-political and quite civil, focused more on religion and honor than conservative politics.

The crowd remained civil and listened attentively through 200 minutes of speeches, prayers, songs and the awarding of medals.

Indeed, President Barack Obama was not referred to by name on stage once during the three-and-a-half hour program.

The focus of the rally was more explicitly religious than political, with many speakers openly professing their Christian faith, including Beck.

Beck asked for attendees to leave political signs at home, and indeed it appears that said attendees — reportedly totaling in the hundreds of thousands — abided by his wish.

There were no reports of arrests or civil unrest during the event, and attendees left the area clean — quite a different story than the Obama inauguration, when trash was left scattered on the ground.
