Dude, I think he’s stopped caring about even the appearance of consistency.
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist appeared to backtrack from statements he made regarding same-sex marriage during a CNN interview Sunday, saying in a statement that he does not support a Constitutional ban on the practice.
The comments appear at odds with what the Florida Senate candidate told CNN’s Ed Henry on State of the Union, during which he expressed continued support for a ban on same-sex marriage. …
“I was not discussing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution banning same-sex marriage, which I do not support, but rather reaffirming my position regarding Florida’s constitutional ban that I articulated while running for governor,” he said in the statement.
During the Sunday interview, Crist made it clear that he was talking about the potential constitutional amendment. In fact, CNN’s Ed Henry repeatedly made clear that he was asking about an amendment — not simply the governor’s personal stance on the issue.
On a related note, Crist refused to appear alongside Kendrick Meek and Marco Rubio for a debate on Meet the Press. Which wouldn’t be a major deal except that Crist ripped Rubio for failing to attend a previous television debate earlier this year. Crist says he has already committed to campaign appearance, yet his published campaign calender shows nothing on the date.
I wouldn’t trust this guy to unclog my toilet much less represent my interests in the United States Senate.
