Most Americans Name Just Five Countries That Should Be Defended Militarily

Most Americans name just five countries they believe deserve military protection from the United States.

Just like last year, Canada leads the list of 18 countries regularly in the news when Americans are asked whether the United States should provide military assistance to that country if it is attacked.

The other four – in order – are Great Britain, Israel, Germany and Mexico. The level of support is basically unchanged from last year’s survey with the exception of Mexico for which support is down slightly.

Yes well, a constant stream of illegal immigration, the violence due to drugs and corruption, and racial demagoguery whenever we attempt to secure our borders can do that.

Now, my list is slightly longer than the mainstream version. I believe nations like Poland, Taiwan, and Australia deserve military support for the United States. Especially considering that Australia and Poland are fighting alongside the United States in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, I’m not in any great hurry to defend Mexico, all things considered.
