Breaking: Florida Pastor Calls Off Koran Burning, Mosque To Move; Or Not?

by Stephan Tawney on September 9, 2010

The Florida pastor whose congregation was set to burn Korans this Saturday has called off the event, Reuters reports.

Update: Holy crap. The imam and pastor came to an agreement. In exchange for the Korans not being burnt, the Ground Zero mosque imam has agreed to move the location of his mosque. Via ABC News.

Terry Jones, the pastor, says he’s flying to New York this Saturday to meet with the imam.

Update: Now a spokesman for Park51 says they won’t move the Ground Zero mosque after all.

Question: Was the pastor wrong? ABC News didn’t say it was basing its report on Jones. It only said that the burning was called off because the mosque would be moved. Or did someone at Park51 decide that giving into the infidel wasn’t going to happen after all?

Update X2: Apparently Florida-based imams assured Jones that the mosque would be moved if he stopped the burning.
