FBI Agents Sent to Harass Florida Pastor

by Stephan Tawney on September 9, 2010

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were sent to harass the pastor of a Florida church that planned to legally burn copies of the Koran on Saturday.

There has been no indication that the planned actions of the church are illegal, yet federal agents have visited the pastor multiple times since his announcement of the planned burning.

The FBI spent about a half hour talking with Jones, but church spokesman Wayne Sapp would not disclose what they discussed. Agents leaving the church wouldn’t talk to an Associated Press reporter.

Jones said earlier this week that agents have visited him twice since he announced his plans in July, the last visit about two weeks ago.

Jones has been forced to hire armed security after threats of violence from Muslims across the globe. In the Middle East, we have seen Islamic protesters call for the death of Christians (“Death to the Christians”) and burning the American flag.

Yet federal authorities are harassing Jones for exercising his First Amendment rights. The United States would rather have Jones suppressed than deal with Muslims who threaten violence whenever someone dares to even criticize Islam. The phrase “useful idiots” comes to mind.
