Lefty Conspiracy of the Day: Limbaugh Attended Same High School as Terry Jones

by Stephan Tawney on September 10, 2010

Just to be clear, Barack Obama sitting in the pews of Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church for twenty years doesn’t mean a damn thing, or so we’re told. But the fact that Rush Limbaugh and Koran-burning Pastor Terry Jones attended the same high school four decades ago? Apparently that’s Watergate 2.0.

There’s nothing more to the story than that. The lefty blogosphere, Washington Post, USA Today, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Politics Daily are all up in arms over the fact that Limbaugh and Jones attended the same high school in the same year. That’s it. That’s the extent of the conspiracy.

There’s no indication that they were friends or even friendly acquaintances. For all we know, Limbaugh hates Jones and the two avoided each other like the plague. All we know is that they attended the same high school in 1969. My God, someone call for a Congressional inquiry!

The best part, of course, is the double-standard I mentioned in the first paragraph. We were told that Obama attending Wright’s church for decades meant nothing. The fact that he sat in the pews while Wright preached hatred for America? Meant nothing. Nothing at all.

But Rush Limbaugh and Terry Jones attended the same high school in 1969? That tells us the whole story. Why, it must be part of some vast right-wing conspiracy to do…something.
