Nathan Gonzales of the Rothenberg Political Report calculates that, barring any major surprise in Hawaii this weekend, 98.4% of incumbents seeking re-election have been renominated. That’s 415 of 422 officeholders.
So are voters really bucking the establishment this year? It would appear not. There have been some notable chances in places like Alaska, but by and large voters have been sending incumbents back to run in November.
