House Democrat’s Ad Features Word “Republican” Multiple Times

by Stephan Tawney on September 17, 2010

See, he never directly claims he’s a Republican. He just has people who say they’re Republicans supporting him. Oh, and he conveniently never gets around to mentioning the fact he’s a Democrat. All a coincidence, I’m sure.

The slimy guy in question here is Harry Mitchell, running for re-election in Arizona’s 5th Congressional district. He also used to chair the Arizona Democratic Party, and he voted in favor of ObamaCare.

Apparently Democrats have become this desperate. They’re actually using ads to suggest they’re Republicans. That’s just pathetic, guys. Just pathetic.

Mitchell’s conservative (actual) Republican opponent is David Schweikert. He could use some help in taking down this ObamaCare-loving phony.

You’ve got to be kidding. I watched the ad and I’m pretty sure that Mitchell isn’t trying to pretend he’s a republican. The point is that Republicans support him EVEN THOUGH he is a Democrat but nice try.

Oh and to say Mitchell is “slimy” is just ridiculous. I don’t even think his opponent would agree with you on that one…

Really? His opponent wouldn’t consider him slimy? He’s putting out misleading ads and sold himself as a conservative before and after voting for government-run health care. Slimy is the proper word.

Great article, thanks for writing it. Mitchell has voted lockstep with Pelosi and Obama on almost everything, so it IS slimy to show Republicans ostensibly supporting him. He voted for Obamacare, some of the TARP bailouts, and cardcheck. He doesn’t support SB1070, which is even more popular in Arizona than it is in the rest of the country. He’s ignored the nonstop Tea Party protests outside his office, he doesn’t represent his Republican-leaning district. He is completely bought and paid for by the unions (http://epaper.aztrib.com/Repository/ml.asp?Ref=RVZULzIwMDcvMDMvMTIjQXIwMzgwMQ==&Mode=HTML&Locale=english-skin-custom)

With early ballots going out in the mail in a couple of weeks, there is virtually no way Mitchell can catch up to Schweikert, there are too few undecided voters. The national Dems just announced they won’t be spending any money on his race, and the AFL-CIO and other labor unions have also decided not to spend any money on Arizona Congressional races. Whereas the NRCC is pouring money into the race to help Schweikert, along with the Club for Growth and independent expenditure committees like the 60 Plus Association. Thanks to 60+, Schweikert has more TV ads playing now than Mitchell. I predict Schweikert wins by close to double digits.
