The Democrat in question is Representative Russ Carnahan (D-MO), and he gets his ass kicked by both the audience and his Republican challenger, Ed Martin.

Carnahan launches into blaming Bush for the country’s entitlement problems, then proceeds to claim that he rescued Social Security from privatization. After all, Carnahan says with a straight face, the Social Security system is “stable” and “efficient”.

That prompts widespread laughter in the bipartisan audience; so much so that the moderator has to intervene and get the debate back on track. Martin then goes on the offensive, proving what Carnahan had said to be a lie and explaining that we need to be fiscally responsible if we want to follow through on our promise to America’s seniors.

Overall it’s a great two minute-plus clip. Martin’s responsible alone is worth your time. Via Hot Air.
