The nation is suffering from 9.6% unemployment, an unsustainable debt load, record deficits, and abysmal GDP growth. So what is President Barack Obama working on fixing? His own image.
On Tuesday, the president is scheduled to hold an old-fashioned campaign rally on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Party officials said they expected thousands to cram onto Library Mall, an outside setting, to see Mr. Obama.
A senior Democratic Party strategist said the event would be the biggest political rally since the end of the campaign and is meant to recapture “some of the old excitement and energy from the 2008 campaign that was so essential to Obama’s and Democrats’ success.”
Obama and his Democrats have done nothing to warrant another two years of absolute power in Washington. They ignored the will of the people on health care reform, increased both spending and taxes, added heavy regulation on business, and oversaw continued high unemployment and low GDP growth.
But Americans, and Democrats in particular, should become excited and turn out to vote for his Congressional allies because Barack Obama will hold a rally and read the same tired, meaningless platitudes from a teleprompter. Let’s all gather and talk about the change we’ve brought to America. Please mind the unemployed hordes looking for jobs.
Rather than doing anything of substance, once again Democrats turn to altering their marketing strategy. Rather than doing anything to actually stimulate hiring, they’ll hold a rally and chant “Yes We Can”. Instead of getting spending under control, they’ll hold signs and fawn over their failed president.
That’s nothing for America to become excited over. And the fact that Democrats believe the independents and moderates who voted for them last time around to be so gullible as to return for more pain shows how little respect the party of tax-and-spend has for America’s swing voters.
