Yahoo’s “Ask America” Poll: 65% Want Courts to Invalidate ObamaCare

by Stephan Tawney on September 29, 2010

Via reader Simon, Yahoo! recently surveyed 1.7 million Americans as part of its “Ask America” project. The results reaffirm what has been long known: Americans don’t like ObamaCare. In fact, they want it struck down in the court system.

The results show a fairly conservative set of ideals, which helps to explain the current political climate going into November:

  • 65% want ObamaCare struck down by the courts
  • An identical 65% think Obama is “out of touch” with Americans
  • A whopping 75% want an immigration law similar to Arizona’s in their own state
  • 65% don’t believe the tea party is motivated by racism

In fact, Americans take only two center-left stances: A statistical tie on extending all Bush tax cuts, and a slight majority think oil companies should pay higher taxes.

That last number is likely to change as the cap-and-trade debate heats up, and as it’s explained that higher taxes on energy companies means higher energy costs for consumers. We’ll see how many Americans favor higher taxes on oil companies when they face the prospect of a costlier energy bill every month.
