Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa is an anti-American socialist who has signed agreements with Iran and expressed his support for the oppressive regime while it was murdering dissidents in the streets. He has strengthened ties with Venezuela and refused to renew the lease for an American air base in Ecuador.
Apparently angry military and police officials protested and attempted to stage a coup against Correa in Ecuador today. Correa has accused opposition parties of backing the coup, and in response has declared a state of emergency.
So where does the Obama Administration stand on the situation? Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has expressed American support for the anti-American, socialist leader who has worked to strengthen ties with our enemies and undermine American national security.
