Scandal: House Republican Candidate Likes History, Or Something

Scandalous! The headline asks:

Why is This GOP House Candidate Dressed as a Nazi?

It’s not until you actually read through the article that you discover Rich Iott, the candidate in question, re-enacts battles from World War II in an organized, non-Nazi historical group. He’s basically like the reenactors who play the Red Coats in American Revolution reenactments. But with units from World War II.

The website for the group actually states on its homepage that reenactors involved condemn the actions and reject the philosophy of Nazi Germany. The text also says they honor those who suffered under the atrocities of the Third Reich.

The author of the article, Joshua Green, is trying to stir controversy where it really doesn’t exist. He’s a liberal, having written for The American Prospect and Slate. His headline is intended to suggest that Iott is some neo-Nazi sympathizer who likes to dress up as a tribute. He’s hoping enough people don’t actually read through, and that those who do remain in that mindset, skeptical of even the strongest evidence in Iott’s favor.

It’s sleazy yet typical for the left-wing media. Their candidates of choice are in danger and they’re going to be in full attack mode for the next few weeks, hoping to spare some of their ideological brethren. Be on the lookout for people like Green, trying to smear challengers to the left-wing agenda.

Wow: CBS saw Green’s hackery and raised him. Headline:

Atlantic: Ohio GOP Candidate for Congress Dresses as Nazi

Opening:

Rich Iott, the Tea Party-supported GOP nominee for Congress in Ohio’s 9th District, is part of a group that likes to don German Waffen SS uniforms and participate Nazi re-enactments, Atlantic journalist Josh Green revealed on Real Time with Bill Maher.

The group, called Wiking, acts out exploits from the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking, an actual Nazi division, which fought on the Eastern Front during World War II .

And the article comes complete with a Nazi swastika.

Note to Green: You have much to learn from Ann Binlot about being an attack dog for the Democratic Party.

The best part? It was revealed on Bill Maher. Boy, it looks like Journolist got back together, huh?
