The Obama Administration will propose higher costs on everything shipped by truck and bus in an effort to fight global warming. The proposal comes despite high unemployment, falling private sector wages, and a struggling middle class that will likely be impacted by the higher costs.
But surely Congress can stop this insanity, right? Apparently not. The Obama Administration will pursue the changes through the EPA rather than having to deal with the democratic process:
At the direction of the White House, the agencies will expand the program to include heavy-duty trucks for heavy-duty trucks for model years 2014 through 2018 next week, an EPA official said. The agencies have already set standards for cars and light-duty trucks.
Auto manufacturers supported the first round of standards aimed at cars and light-duty trucks, but it’s unclear where industry will come down on the truck rules. A spokesperson for the Engine Manufacturers Association wasn’t immediately available for comment.
Another disastrous economic policy imposed by the Obama Administration by dictat. What could possibly go wrong?
