Obama Now Taking Credit for Bush-era Accomplishments

by Stephan Tawney on October 21, 2010

You know the Obama Administration’s claims are indefensible when even the green section of MSNBC.com can’t spin for him. The headline:

Hot air? White House takes credit for Bush-era wind farm jobs

In its desperate attempt to claim that jobs creation has resulted from Obama-Pelosi agenda, the Obama Administration is taking credit for 50,000 jobs created by the construction of wind farms. The only problem? The projects were launched before either the stimulus or the Obama Administration.

Out of 70 major wind farms that received the $4.4 billion in federal energy grants through the stimulus program, public records show that 11, which received a total of $600 million, erected their wind towers during the Bush administration. And a total of 19 wind farms, which received $1.3 billion, were built before any of the stimulus money was distributed. ( See a list of the projects here.)

Yet all the jobs at these wind farms are counted in the administration’s figures for jobs created by the stimulus.

In fact, 14 of the claimed projects were already operating, sending energy to the grid, before the stimulus legislation. And yet they’re claimed as a success of thhe Obama Administration’s economic stimulative policies.

Is the Obama Administration really so hard-up for good economic news that it must turn to accomplishments from the Bush Administration? Sad.
