Harry Reid: I Totally Saved the World from Depression

I’m sorry, what? It’s not even clear which major initiative he’s talking about here. Is he talking about TARP? If so, that’s an initiative we’re constantly reminded was launched by the Bush Administration. Is he talking about the stimulus? If so, it failed by its crafters own goals (unemployment below 8%).

Either way, Harry Reid was hardly the brain trust behind the project. He was just one leader who pushed the legislation through and, in the case of the latter, barely even did that. Even if you accept that TARP or the stimulus saved the world from depression, Harry Reid isn’t the one to thank.

Or am I missing something here? Is Dingy Harry suggesting that his leadership and steady hand alone kept the world from plunging into depression? Sounds ridiculous, of course, but no one would put that past Dingy Harry.
