Harry Reid: I’m slumming it in a second-floor penthouse

by Stephan Tawney on October 22, 2010

Respect, people. His Washington penthouse is only on the second floor.

Ms. Angle, a Republican and Tea Party favorite, has also charged that Mr. Reid has gotten wealthy during his time as a public official and has especially knocked the senator for his Washington address: the Ritz-Carlton.

Mr. Reid’s response? It’s not as luxurious as she makes it sound.

“I have a home in Searchlight, Nevada,” Mr. Reid said. “I stay in Washington, D.C., in a one-bedroom apartment. And my penthouse is on the second floor. How do you like that? Penthouse on the second floor.

Not only is his Ritz Carlton penthouse only one bedroom, but it’s on the second floor. The second floor. How this man survives is a mystery. And certainly the fact it’s a second-floor penthouse at the Ritz Carlton takes away from Angle’s accusation that he’s living a luxurious life. This man is slumming it!
