There’s safe Democratic, likely Democratic, leans Democratic and toss-up. We’ve gone from “safe” to “leans” in the period of just a few weeks. We’re a few points away from toss-up. That’s remarkable.
Remember, Massachusetts is D+14 — indicating a strong Democratic presence. Frank has held the seat since 1981, and before him no Republican had represented the district, in its previous or current form, since 1947. It’s a deep blue district.
I still say Frank pulls it off in the end, figuring in the overwhelming Democratic presence and last-minute deciders sticking with the devil they’ve known for a long, long time. But making Democrats sweat Massachusetts’ 4th congressional district? Oh so sweet.
