Crist Launches GOTV Effort Named After Failed, Unpopular Airline

A quick lesson in political strategy, kids: Always Google the phrase you intend to paint on your bus before, you know, you actually paint it on your bus. Because sometimes the results aren’t pretty.

PEOPLExpress Airlines, also known as People Express, was a U.S. no-frills airline that operated from 1981 to 1987. It had its headquarters in the North Terminal on the grounds of Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey…

People Express’ spartan, no-frills service earned the carrier several derisive nicknames, including “People Distress” and “Air Bulgaria” (a sarcastic reference to the poor customer service associated with Eastern Bloc countries during the Cold War).

People’s Express was also the first American airline to charge passengers for each and every checked bag. And you know how much Americans love to pay exorbitant fees to check their luggage.
