It’s always enjoyable watching lefty media types outraged — outraged! — that conservative politicians and pundits are primarily interested in defeating their political opponents. As if leftist politicians and pundits were any less dedicated to defeating the Bush Administration and its Republican allies.

The latest such outrage, or rather fauxrage, involves Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declaring that his top priority is seeking the defeat of the radical leftist currently occupying the White House. McConnell also notes that Barack Obama’s top objective is getting re-elected.

The arrangement works out just fine. We have Republicans seeking to defeat Democrats and Democrats seeking to defeat Republicans. That’s the way it works. That’s politics.

But listening to the media, suddenly surprised at politicians seeking to defeat the opposing president, it’s an outrage. Why, these nasty Republicans are thinking about taking back the White House? How dare they!
