Politics ends at the water’s edge. Unless you’re the guy who demanded the term limits law be lifted just for you, and then proceeded to offend the majority of the American population by standing behind an aide who called opponents of the 9/11 mosque “racist”. Then you do whatever the hell you want, basic decency be damned.
“If you look at the U.S., you look at who we’re electing to Congress, to the Senate—they can’t read,” he said. “I’ll bet you a bunch of these people don’t have passports. We’re about to start a trade war with China if we’re not careful here,” he warned, “only because nobody knows where China is. Nobody knows what China is.”
He’s not even lobbing legitimate criticism. He’s outrageously insulting the incoming duly-elected members of the United States Congress. And exactly who is he talking about? People by Allen West down in Florida? Or maybe Mark Kirk in Illinois? I’m pretty sure those decorated veterans of the United States military can read.
Bloomberg is a smug jackass. It’s no wonder he thinks he should tell New Yorkers what kind of food they can eat and how much they can eat.

What purpose is served by an inane comment like that, other than to put one’s hubris on display. Of course, Bloomberg could later claim denial of his money demands on the 112th Congress is merely retaliation for his rush to insult.
