Reuters is reporting that artillery has been heard near the South Korean island that was attacked by the DPRK a few days ago. However, Voice of America reports that the firing appears to be taking place inside of North Korea, about 10km north of the attacked island.
Update: A reporter on the island of Yeonpyeong confirms that the island is NOT under renewed attack. Meanwhile, South Korean military officials say the fire does appear to be occurring on the North’s territory.
Update X2: The North Korean military has fired 20 artillery shells in a training exercise, South Korean military sources say. Associated Press photographers on the Yeonpyeong say they heard the explosions. Reporters say they’ve seen smoke rising from inland North Korea.
