A Democratic senator has been caught on an open mic revealing that the lame duck session’s agenda, put forth by the incumbent Democrats, is “all rigged”. I know, you’re all shocked.
It’s Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), who just won re-election after defeating conservative candidate Ken Buck. This was one of the seats the NRSC had targeted strongly in 2010 but ultimately failed to gain.
To make things more interesting, Bennet is standing by his comments.
Bennet Chief of Staff Guy Cecil stood by the senator’s comments.
“It’s something he’s been talking about from day one,” Cecil told The Daily Caller in an interview outside the Senate chamber. “The whole process being rigged against having a real conversation about tax cuts, the estate tax and the defense authorization. We’re not having a lot of those conversations. It’s just a symptom of Washington being broken.”
It’s not a symptom of Washington being broken. It’s a symptom of the current Democratic leadership’s determination to shut-out honest debate. They want to use what little time they have left to ram through as much of their agenda as possible. They’re not interested in honestly debating the issues.
And sorry, but Bennet is no better. Ed Morrissey reminds us that he and his staff tried to rig a radio interview from right before the election. They insisted that the interviewers only concentrate on his awesomeness rather than having an open, honest debate on the real issues.
It’s a case of a hypocrite criticizing a bunch of liars.
