Congressional Job Approval Hits All-Time Low

by Stephan Tawney on December 15, 2010

Just 13% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, while 83% say they disapprove of the Democratic-led Congress. It’s the worst showing for Congress since Gallup began polling Congressional job approval more than three decades ago.

No surprise. Despite the November electoral results, Congress has continued to tax-and-spend the United States further into fiscal disaster. And while Republicans and the White House may have negotiated tax cut extensions, House Democrats decided to vote in favor of tabling the measure and raising taxes for everyone.

Congress’ job approval won’t change until Congress changes. And that doesn’t mean simply a change in which party controls Congress. It means Congress changing its direction, changing the policies it pursues.
