The Hollywood president delivers a Hollywood appointment.
Actor. Poet. Musician. Performer. Rocker Jon Bon Jovi can now add one more title to his impressive resume: White House appointee.
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama signed an executive order establishing the White House Council for Community Solutions, and Bon Jovi appears as one of the individuals appointed to the group.
“The Council will provide advice to the President on the best ways to mobilize citizens, nonprofits, businesses and government to work more effectively together to solve specific community needs,” states the release.
Because if there’s anyone who understands what ordinary Americans in ordinary communities are facing today, it’s a wealthy rock star who’s been in the business since the 1980s.
We all know what this is about. 1) Drawing attention by appointing a rock star who Obama can stand with at a press conference; 2) Paying back a major Democratic supporter.
By the way, why is the White House dealing with community issues? I’m pretty sure that falls under the jurisdiction of local and state governments, and not the federal government seated in Washington.
