It’s Fareed Zakaria, who also wrote a book entitled The Post-American World, which our current president was seen reading a few years back. Apparently “We the People” are the problem.
“No, I think the people are the big problem,” Zakaria said. “I mean, Americans — everybody wants to say the American people are so wonderful. You know, I think that when they come to recognize that they have to make sacrifices too that it’s not just wasteful — they need to have — they need to recognize that some of what’s going to happen here is fewer. They have to consume fewer things. They have to accept slightly higher taxes. And in the long run, you will have a much better economy.”
Less consumption, higher taxes, and depressed economic activity will result in a “better” economy? I can’t help but wonder if Zakaria’s definition of a “better” American economy is a weakened one.
Leftists have reached a fever pitch of elitism when they go on national television to say individuals are the problem and the solution is a lower standard of living and more government.
