Let Freedom Ring has an email out this evening pointing to the three most disastrous elements of the new START treaty. I’ve reworded some of them slightly to change them from “did you know” to pure statements but the content remains the same.

1) The New START will leave the Russians with thousands more nuclear weapons than we will have because it fails to address their 10-to-1 advantage over us in so-called “tactical” nuclear weapons.

2) These tactical weapons can be more destructive than the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima in World War II? Some may wind up in the hands of the Iranians or North Koreans or some other rogue nation who could launch them on low-tech missiles from freighters off our coasts – with devastating effect.

3) This treaty would effectively give Russia a veto over our ability to improve or expand our missile defense capabilities, unless we got their permission first? President Reagan said that missile defense is essential to protecting us from rogue nations, but New START would restrict this protection.

Does handing over the national security decisions for the United States to Moscow sound like a good idea? Does limiting the ability of the United States to defend itself in the face of growing threats from North Korea and Iran sound like a good idea? And yet that’s exactly what the START treaty does.

Call your senators. Tell them to vote against ratification of the disastrous START treaty. Then call these senators:
